Last month was retrospective in nature. Losing Lighthouse Brewing was a stark reminder that things can change, and not always in ways we would hope.
This month, we take the opportunity to celebrate change, as a local brewpub finds new life with a name change and a lovely look back at the good old days. We all spend time looking back on the good old days.
The memories, the good times, and alongside so many of those moments, the music. When they opened in 2012, Moon Under Water Brewpub was riding the wave of craft beer growth in Victoria, B.C., and beyond. Known for crisp, clean, German-inspired beers, fun casks and wings on Wednesdays, it became a space where it was pretty common to swing by for lunch and see Clay Potter toiling away up on the brewhouse. Barrel-aged beers became a common occurrence, diving into bird-themed names such as Oud King Crow, Sang du Merle, and Tempus Corvi, alongside their anniversary wheat wines, which were always a treat at the Great Canadian Beer Festival.
